Traffic Stop Leads to Loaded Firearm Seizure and Multiple Charges in Mississauga

Officers from Peel Regional Police’s Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (S.T.E.P) team have arrested two individuals and seized a loaded firearm and prohibited weapon following a proactive traffic investigation in the City of Mississauga.

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, S.T.E.P officers were conducting a routine patrol in the area of Derry Road East and Torbram Road, when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, prompting a detailed investigation.

As a result of continued efforts, on Monday, March 24, 2025, police arrested Maurice Glasgow-Oliver (34) and Rosa Santillan (32), both residents of Pickering, Ontario. During the arrest, officers seized a loaded Springfield XD (.45 Cal) handgun and a set of brass knuckles.

Maurice Glasgow-Oliver has been charged with the following:

  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition ×2
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order ×2
  • Possession of Weapon
  • Flight from Police

Rosa Santillan has been charged with:

  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm

Both accused were held in custody and appeared for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
