Toronto’s Bar Pompette Shakes Its Way Into World’s Top 100 Bars

Bar Pompette, the stylish cocktail spot in Toronto’s Little Italy, has earned a coveted place among the best drinking destinations on the planet. The bar, located at 607 College Street, was ranked 55th in the world by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants organization, which unveiled part of its annual list on Tuesday.

Known for its sleek Parisian-inspired vibe, Bar Pompette has become a favourite for handcrafted cocktails that blend French flair with local ingredients. Critic Josh Ong praised the bar’s ability to “transport guests from Toronto’s Little Italy to a buzzy bistro on the streets of France,” highlighting the Cornichon — a martini-style drink infused with pickle distillate — as a standout.

The bar is the only Canadian entry to appear in the 51–100 ranking this year, with the top 50 list still to come. Owners marked the milestone with gratitude, posting on Instagram that the recognition reflects the “thankless hard work” of their team and the loyal support of guests and the community.

Signature creations such as the Nitro Colada — a nitrogen-infused rum cocktail with a silky texture — and the Fire Escape — a smoky mix of spruce tips, lapsang souchong, and scotch — have helped Bar Pompette earn a 4.8-star Google rating and a reputation for creativity paired with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

This latest accolade follows the bar’s recognition in May, when it was named the seventh best bar in North America, the highest-ranked Canadian establishment on that list. For Toronto’s cocktail lovers, Bar Pompette’s global spotlight is yet another reason to raise a glass.
