Top NHL Draft Pick Porter Martone Returns to Star-Studded Hockey Night in Brampton 2025

One of the NHL’s most exciting young prospects, Porter Martone, is set to return to the ice for Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton, joining a growing roster of all-star talent for the annual charity event. Martone, recently drafted sixth overall by the Philadelphia Flyers, is coming off a stellar season with the Brampton Steelheads, where he notched 37 goals and 98 points in just 57 games and proudly represented Team Canada at the 2025 World Juniors.

Returning for another year, Martone will be joined by fellow Steelheads Gabriel Chiarot, a 2024 draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks; Mason Zebeski, an invitee to the Pittsburgh Penguins’ development camp; and standout Guelph Storm goaltender Brayden Gillespie. Their participation highlights Brampton’s growing reputation as a hub for developing top-tier hockey talent.

The event, which raised a record-breaking $14 million in 2024—the highest amount ever raised by a charity hockey game in Canadian history—will once again support the William Osler Health System Foundation. All proceeds will help transform Peel Memorial into Brampton’s second full-service hospital, an essential step for one of Canada’s fastest-growing cities.

This year’s lineup includes hockey legends and fan favourites such as NHL All-Star Curtis Joseph, Norris Trophy winner Mark Giordano, and returning stars Dylan Strome, Liam Foudy, Erik Gudbranson, and Jack McBain. Together with rising stars like Martone, the event promises another thrilling night of hockey and community spirit.

Hockey Night in Brampton 2025 will take place on Wednesday, August 20, at the CAA Centre (7575 Kennedy Rd S, Brampton). Doors open at 6:00 PM, with puck drop at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $25 and are available now at hockeynightbrampton.ca.

The City of Brampton extends special thanks to Changemaker Sponsors ARGO TFP Brampton, Capital Power, DG Group, Great Gulf, Paradise Developments, and Regency Homes for their continued support of this flagship event.

Mayor Patrick Brown praised the return of Brampton’s hometown talent, saying, “We are incredibly proud to see our own Brampton Steelheads, including top NHL prospect Porter Martone, take the ice at Hockey Night in Brampton. This event not only showcases local talent rising to the highest levels of hockey but also brings our community together to support vital health care initiatives.”
