Thousands Gather at Gage Park for Brampton’s Eid al-Adha Celebration

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, the City of Brampton hosted a vibrant and joyful Eid al-Adha celebration at Gage Park, bringing together thousands of residents to mark one of the most important festivals in the Islamic calendar. The event, held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, showcased Brampton’s deep-rooted spirit of diversity and togetherness, with a full afternoon of cultural programming, food, and fun for all ages.

Gage Park came alive with a festive atmosphere as families enjoyed an array of free activities including face painting, arts and crafts, henna design stations, bouncy castles, and games for children. The stage featured live multicultural performances and traditional music, while stilt walkers, jugglers, and community dancers added to the lively environment. A special storytelling area introduced young children to the meaning and traditions of Eid in an engaging and age-appropriate way.

The food experience was equally memorable, with a lineup of Halal food trucks and vendors offering a wide selection of dishes such as biryani, kebabs, falafel wraps, samosas, sweet jalebi, and refreshing drinks like mango lassi and rose sherbet. Families relaxed on picnic blankets, enjoying both the entertainment and the delicious food options in the heart of downtown Brampton.

Mayor Patrick Brown welcomed guests with words of unity and appreciation, stating, “Eid al-Adha is a meaningful time for many in our community. It is a celebration of faith, family and generosity. I invite everyone to join us to celebrate together, enjoy the festivities and give back in the spirit of Eid. Brampton’s strength is in its diversity and events like this bring us closer as a city.”

Amandeep Sodhi, Member of Parliament for Brampton Centre, also joined the celebration and shared, “Events like this highlight Brampton’s unity in diversity. Eid teaches us about giving, sharing, and standing together as one community. I am proud to represent a riding where inclusivity and celebration go hand in hand.”

Regional Councillor Rowena Santos added, “It’s a beautiful Saturday in Brampton and a perfect day to celebrate Eid with our Muslim community. Events like this are what make Brampton home – a place where all cultures are embraced and respected.”

Councillor Rod Power, who was also in attendance, praised the event’s warm atmosphere and strong community engagement. “This celebration is a reminder of how Brampton thrives when we come together to share in each other’s traditions and values. Gage Park is the perfect backdrop for families to connect and enjoy meaningful moments like these.”

Organized by the City of Brampton with support from local partners including Sheridan College, the Eid celebration also promoted the spirit of giving. Attendees were encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and new, unwrapped toys for local charitable organizations—further embracing the message of compassion and care that defines Eid al-Adha.

The event concluded with a sense of joy, gratitude, and community pride, leaving residents with cherished memories and a renewed appreciation for Brampton’s vibrant cultural mosaic.
