Think Your Garden’s a Showstopper? Brampton Wants to See It

The City of Brampton is calling all green thumbs to participate in the 2025 Gardens of Brampton Recognition Program, an annual celebration of residential front gardens that contribute to the city’s natural beauty and environmental goals.

Now in its fourth year, the program is a partnership between the City of Brampton, the Brampton Horticultural Society, and the Chinguacousy Garden Club and Horticultural Society. It recognizes homeowners who are helping to beautify their neighbourhoods—one garden at a time.

The initiative supports Brampton’s Grow Green Environmental Master Plan, which commits to building a healthier, more sustainable city. Last year, the city received around 110 submissions, and organizers are hoping for even more in 2025.

How to Enter:
Residents can submit one photo per household of their front garden by August 1, 2025, following these guidelines:

  • Use a landscape (horizontal) format.
  • Capture the entire front garden from the curb view.
  • Ensure no people, pets, or visible house numbers are in the image.
  • Submit in JPG or PNG format, in high-resolution.
  • Photos can be uploaded via the official registration form or posted on social media using the hashtag #GardensofBrampton.
  • For best results, take photos during the day in natural lighting.

Judging Criteria:
Submissions will be evaluated throughout August based on:

  • Visual appeal: Colour, harmony, texture, and overall aesthetic.
  • Overall appearance: Smart use of space and coordination of design.
  • Maintenance: Pruning, weed control, plant health, and eco-friendly practices like mulching and drought-tolerant planting.
  • Originality: Unique features such as sculptures, rock gardens, water elements, or themed spaces.

Participants are encouraged to remove winter lights and any non-garden items that may distract from the natural beauty.

Think your garden deserves the spotlight? Get your camera ready and share your slice of paradise with the city.
