The Festival of Lights Shines Bright: How to Celebrate Diwali in Toronto This Year

Diwali, the festival of lights, has arrived — and across Toronto, communities are coming together to celebrate with music, dance, art, and dazzling nightlife. From Bollywood parties to creative workshops, the city is lighting up with events that bring tradition and festivity to every corner.

One of the biggest highlights is Toronto’s Biggest Diwali Mega Party, set for October 18 at Casablanca Lounge & Event Venue (1108 Dundas St. W.). With over a thousand guests expected, this high-energy event promises an unforgettable night filled with Bollywood hits, Desi nightlife vibes, and non-stop dancing from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tickets start at $15.

Also on October 18, Diwali in Toronto: Bollywood Party will take over Penthouse 17 (17 Toronto St., 3rd Floor). This 19+ party blends traditional celebration with modern club culture. DJs Vodka, Brisky, and Berry will spin Bollywood, house, and fusion tracks for over 500 guests. Attendees are encouraged to dress to impress in sarees, kurtas, lehengas, and festive attire. The party runs from 11 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with tickets starting at $22.

For those seeking a stylish downtown experience, Diwali Dazzle @ The Drake will transform The Drake Hotel (1150 Queen St. W.) into a late-night Diwali celebration. Beginning at 11 p.m., DJ Alfaa and friends will bring Bollywood, global club anthems, and techno beats to the dance floor. The sparkle dress code invites both traditional Diwali outfits and chic festive wear.

Not all Diwali celebrations revolve around nightlife. Creative souls can take part in a Diwali Art Social: Diya Painting Workshop, where participants can decorate traditional oil lamps, enjoy a relaxed social atmosphere, and immerse themselves in the artistic side of the festival.

Whether through dance, art, or cultural connection, Toronto’s Diwali celebrations offer something for everyone. As the year winds down, these festivities provide an opportunity to reflect, connect, and celebrate light triumphing over darkness in true festive spirit.
