Police in Guelph are investigating a rather unusual and frothy crime — the theft of a trailer packed with $80,000 worth of whipped cream.
Authorities say a manager at a business on Speedvale Avenue West reported the theft early Wednesday morning. Investigators determined that the white Wabash refrigerated trailer was hitched and driven away around 4:30 a.m.
The trailer was carrying 30 pallets of Gay Lea whipped cream, making the creamy cargo an expensive loss for the company.
Guelph Police are urging anyone with information to come forward, adding that anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
The incident adds a quirky twist to a growing list of high-value cargo thefts in Ontario — though few have been quite as sweet as this one.
