Milton, ON – The Indo Canadian Golf Association (ICGA) proudly announces the triumphant conclusion of its annual golf tournament, held on July 23, 2024, at the prestigious Glencairn Golf Club in Milton. The event, blessed with perfect sunny weather, drew 200 dedicated golfers for an outstanding day of golf and camaraderie. The ICGA donated $51,000 to Trillium Health Partners Foundation (THP), matching the amount donated last year.

The tournament featured two distinct leagues. The ICGA Golf Championship catered to serious golfers, with fierce competition for a substantial purse prize of $15,000. The top-tier golfing talent was on full display:

  1. Jaskaran Kainth won the Indo Canada Cup with a cash prize of $5,000.
  2. Ron Sidhu secured second place, winning $4,000.
  3. Lucky Sandal came in third, earning $3,000.
  4. Shivinder Singh took fourth place with a prize of $2,000.
  5. Sarabjit Singh finished fifth, receiving $1,000.

In a generous act of charity, Jaskaran, Ron, Shivinder, and Sarabjit returned their winnings to ICGA for donation to charity.

The second league was dedicated to the Indo Canadian Golf Association, where the scramble trophy was highly contested. The winners of the Indo Canadian Golf Association scramble trophy were:

  • Iman Sehmbi, Matthew Onik, Sonny Mohamed, and Graeme Elstob.

The second-place team comprised:

  • Harwinder Powar, Jatinder Malhi, Sarabjit Sra, and Paul Singh.

In addition to the outstanding golf, attendees enjoyed a delightful mix of Canadian, Indo-Canadian, and South Indian cuisine, enhancing the event’s cultural richness.

The tournament also had a philanthropic aspect, raising an impressive $51,000 for the Trillium Health Foundation. Tooba from the Trillium Health Foundation expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are incredibly thankful for the generosity shown by the ICGA and all participants. Congratulations to all of you for creating something so special that you are able to draw people in from all over the country and even further! Several of the people we spoke to yesterday were already talking about next year’s tournament and how they were definitely going to be coming back. We are proud to see how our event brings people together, not only for the love of golf but also for the greater good of our community. We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, participants, and volunteers for their unwavering support.”
