A winter storm sweeping through southern Ontario is causing disruptions at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga, as snow blankets the region.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory, warning of hazardous road conditions during the morning commute. The low-pressure system is expected to bring between 5 to 10 centimeters of snow, tapering off by the afternoon.
As one of the busiest travel weekends of the year approaches, Pearson Airport has cautioned passengers about potential delays.
“Our surface maintenance specialists are out in the plows clearing runways this morning as we expect over 5 cm of snow throughout the day,” the airport announced on X (formerly Twitter). “With snow, operations can slow down. If you are one of the 138,000 people traveling through Pearson today, be sure to check your flight time, arrive early, and enjoy the holiday vibe in the terminals.”
Travellers are encouraged to monitor flight statuses and plan for potential delays. Flight updates can be accessed directly through the airport’s website.
With snow clearing efforts underway, officials remain focused on maintaining safety and minimizing disruptions for passengers heading into the holiday season.
