Winter weather is on its way to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and parts of Ontario next week, with the first snow forecasted to arrive in Mississauga, Brampton, and surrounding regions. While southwestern Ontario has already experienced its first snowfall, the GTA has so far been spared.
Weekend Weather Outlook
This weekend promises mild conditions with showers and temperatures reaching highs of 9°C on Saturday and 8°C on Sunday across the GTA, including Brampton, Mississauga, Burlington, Oakville, Hamilton, and Niagara Region. Durham Region is expected to be slightly cooler, with highs around 7°C, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada.
Snow Arrives Next Week
The weather begins to shift on Tuesday, with temperatures dipping to -3°C in the evening and a daytime high of 3°C in many parts of the GTA, including Mississauga, Brampton, and Durham Region. There is a 60% chance of rain showers or flurries on Tuesday, which could continue with a 30% chance on Wednesday and Thursday.
In the Niagara Region and Hamilton, temperatures will remain slightly warmer, but flurries are still possible on Tuesday and Thursday.
Snowfall and Accumulation
Although snow is expected, daytime temperatures hovering above freezing mean that significant accumulation is unlikely, with snow melting shortly after falling.
Stay Prepared
With the first signs of winter approaching, residents are encouraged to prepare for fluctuating weather conditions, including potentially slippery roads and sidewalks during evening temperature drops.
