Snow Alert: Up to 10 cm Expected Across GTA and Southern Ontario

The GTA is gearing up for its first significant snowfall of the season, with up to 10 cm of snow expected on Wednesday.

While areas like Muskoka experienced road closures, power outages, and stranded drivers over the weekend, the GTA has mostly seen light dustings—until now.

Snowfall Timeline

The snow is set to begin around 4 a.m. on Wednesday and will persist throughout the day across Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto, according to the Weather Network.

  • Morning: 1 to 3 cm
  • Afternoon: An additional 1 to 3 cm
  • Evening: Another 1 to 2 cm possible

Toronto Pearson Airport anticipates a total of 5 to 10 cm of snow.

Environment and Climate Change Canada offers a slightly lower estimate, forecasting 2 to 4 cm during the day with more snow likely in the evening across Mississauga, Brampton, and Hamilton.

Regional Variations

  • Burlington and Oakville: About 2 cm expected
  • Niagara Region: Under a snow squall watch with 10 to 15 cm predicted starting Tuesday evening
  • Durham Region: Possible snow squalls Wednesday morning, bringing around 5 cm.

Temperatures will remain cold, with a high of 1°C on Wednesday, dropping to -6°C overnight.

More snow is expected later this week, with forecasts indicating snowfall continuing into Thursday, Friday, and the weekend.

Stay prepared for slick roads, delays, and cold conditions as winter tightens its grip on southern Ontario.
