Patients in Mississauga can now check emergency room wait times online before heading to the hospital, thanks to a new digital dashboard launched by Trillium Health Partners (THP). The tool provides real-time updates for both Credit Valley Hospital and Mississauga Hospital, allowing residents to see how long it may take to see a doctor after arriving at the ER.
The dashboard displays the current number of patients in each emergency department’s waiting room and includes graphs based on data from the past 30 days. These graphs give patients an idea of when the busiest and quietest times typically occur at each hospital.
THP says the dashboard aims to provide more transparency, helping people make informed decisions and better understand the wait time to see a doctor after triage. However, actual wait times may still vary depending on the urgency and severity of each case.
For those planning a hospital visit, THP recommends bringing essential items like your OHIP card, a valid photo ID with your current address, a list of medications or photos of their labels, snacks, water, a phone charger, and something to occupy children, such as a coloring book or crayons.
Patients are asked to limit themselves to one accompanying visitor due to the high volume of ER cases. For those who may not speak English fluently, the hospitals offer help from both volunteers and professional interpreters to assist during the visit.
