Shooter Dead After Attack at Dallas ICE Facility; Three People ShotBy The Associated Press

DALLAS — Three people were shot Wednesday morning at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas before the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials confirmed.

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told CNN the identities of the victims were not yet clear, saying, “It could be employees, it could be civilians that were visiting the facility, it could be detainees. At this point, we’re still working through that.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the situation as “active and ongoing,” adding that there were “multiple injuries and fatalities.” She noted that the motive was unclear but pointed to a recent rise in targeting of ICE agents.

Dozens of emergency vehicles swarmed the site, shutting down a major Dallas freeway as first responders rushed in. Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed receiving a call at 6:41 a.m. reporting the shooting.

The incident comes after two recent attacks on immigration facilities in Texas this summer, one at the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado and another at a Border Patrol station in McAllen, raising broader concerns over the safety of immigration officials.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims or the shooter.
