Shaan Singh Hundal, born July 14, 1999, in Brampton, Ontario, has carved out a place as one of the most exciting young forwards in Canadian soccer. Now wearing the number 9 jersey for York United FC in the Canadian Premier League (CPL), Hundal’s career has been a story of resilience, adaptability, and relentless pursuit of goals.
His journey began at just six years old with Caledon SC before moving through Brampton Youth SC and Mississauga SC. In 2014, he joined the Toronto FC Academy, where his talent blossomed. By 2016, he was playing professionally with Toronto FC II in the USL, scoring his first goal at just 17. Twice named to the USL’s “20 Under 20” list, he ranked as high as fourth in 2017.
Over the years, Hundal’s career has spanned several competitive environments, from Valour FC to Inter Miami CF II, where he broke out in 2021 with 11 goals and a USL League One Second Team nod. In 2023, he made history at Vancouver FC, scoring the club’s first-ever goal.
This summer, Hundal’s move to York United FC further elevated his profile. In July 2025, he delivered a stunning performance, scoring four goals in a single match against Pacific FC, tying the CPL record. His finishing, speed, and technical sharpness have made him a fan favorite and a crucial figure in York’s attack.
Internationally, Hundal has represented Canada at both the U18 and U20 levels, hinting at his potential to break into the senior squad in the future. Off the pitch, he stays grounded—fluent in both English and Punjabi, inspired by strikers like Luis Suárez and Sergio Agüero, and a proud Manchester City supporter.
With his impressive track record and rising influence in the CPL, Shaan Hundal represents the new wave of Canadian soccer talent ready to make an impact both domestically and abroad.
