Service Interruption at Toronto Pearson May Cause Customs Delays for Travellers

Toronto Pearson International Airport is advising passengers that they may experience longer-than-usual wait times at customs today due to a temporary service interruption affecting the Canada Border Services Agency’s (CBSA) primary inspection kiosks in Terminals 1 and 3.

The kiosks, which are normally used to streamline border clearance, were reported to be out of service early Sunday afternoon. Airport officials confirmed that CBSA staff are working to resolve the issue and are assisting passengers manually in the meantime.

“As a result of this interruption, travellers could face delays while going through customs,” Pearson officials said in a statement.

Toronto Pearson, Canada’s largest and busiest airport, also noted that the interruption comes during what is traditionally a slower “shoulder season” between summer and winter travel peaks, which may help mitigate some of the impact.

The Canada Border Services Agency is responsible for border control, immigration enforcement, and customs services at airports and other entry points across Canada.

Passengers are encouraged to allow extra time for customs processing and to check for updates from Pearson Airport before arriving.
