A second suspect from Brampton has been arrested in connection with a series of suspicious fires that targeted homes in a developing subdivision near Orillia earlier this year, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
Investigators say the fires occurred between Jan. 20 and Feb. 10 in a newly developing residential subdivision located off Bass Lake Side Road in Oro-Medonte, approximately 20 kilometres southwest of Orillia.
Police confirmed all fires were contained safely and no injuries were reported during the incidents.
The investigation has now led to multiple arrests.
Earlier this spring, OPP investigators announced charges against two individuals, including one suspect from Brampton.
Authorities have now confirmed that a second Brampton resident has also been arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Harminder Sandhar, 40, of Kitchener, and Dikshant Goyal, 22, of Brampton, were each previously charged with two counts of arson causing damage to property.
Police now say Arshdeep Singh, 26, of Brampton, has also been charged with arson causing damage to property.
Investigators have not publicly released additional details regarding the motive behind the fires or the extent of the property damage involved.
The case remains under active investigation and police are continuing to seek information from the public.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incidents to contact the OPP or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers.
Police noted that anonymous tipsters may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000 if information provided leads to further investigative progress.
The arrests come amid increasing concerns across Ontario regarding suspicious fires and criminal incidents targeting newly developing residential communities and construction sites.
No further details regarding court appearances or additional suspects have been released at this time.
