Sanjay Dutt took to X (formerly Twitter) to address swirling rumors about his potential foray into politics. In a statement, he unequivocally stated, “I would like to put all rumors about me joining politics to rest. I am not joining any party or contesting elections. If I do decide to step into the political arena then I will be the first one to announce it. Please refrain from believing what is being circulated in the news about me as of now.”
These assertions come amidst speculation suggesting that the seasoned actor might stand as a Congress candidate from Karnal in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Notably, Sanjay Dutt’s father, Sunil Dutt, was a prominent figure in both cinema and Indian politics, serving as a Member of Parliament for five terms until his passing in 2005.
In recent years, Sanjay Dutt has dedicated himself to prominent roles in big-budget films across languages, marking a remarkable comeback following his battle with stage-4 lung cancer, diagnosed in August 2020. Reflecting on his diagnosis, Dutt revealed, “I had a backache and was treated with hot water bottles and painkillers until one day I couldn’t breathe…I was all alone and suddenly this guy comes and tells me, ‘You have cancer’.” Despite his family history with cancer, Dutt opted against chemotherapy, expressing a profound resolve in the face of adversity.
In October 2020, the actor joyfully announced his victory over cancer, commemorating the occasion on his children’s birthday. He shared on X, “And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can- the health and well-being of our family.”
