A minor scare at Toronto Pearson Airport this morning led to the closure of two runways after a small private jet experienced landing gear trouble during touchdown.
According to airport officials, the aircraft, identified as a Hawker 850XP, had a landing gear issue upon landing but was able to taxi along the runway before coming to a stop near an intersection. The incident occurred Wednesday morning and was confirmed by Pearson in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Fortunately, both crew members on board were unharmed.
While two of the airport’s runways remain closed, flights continue to operate on the remaining two, though some passengers may face delays.
Photos shared by Toronto-based photographer Kyle Taylor show the aircraft tilted on its side at the scene.
Transport Canada and the Transportation Safety Board have been notified and are monitoring the situation.
Operations are continuing, but officials advise travelers to check with their airlines for possible schedule changes.
