Southern Ontario’s Economy Thrives with New Investments in Tourism and Culture”
Tourism is a vital part of Southern Ontario’s economy, creating jobs, boosting local businesses, and offering rich experiences for visitors. Recognizing this, the government has announced significant investments in 10 cultural projects across the region. These initiatives, including festivals, trails, and community events, aim to foster unity while showcasing what makes Ontario special.
One of the highlights is the 2025 Carrousel of the Nations festival, named Attractions Ontario’s top festival two years in a row. This beloved celebration, marking its 50th anniversary this summer, honors Ontario’s multicultural heritage with diverse performances, food, and traditions.
During the announcement, Ruby Sahota MP emphasized the importance of supporting these events: “Festivals like the Carrousel of the Nations do more than entertain; they bring communities together and showcase the vibrancy of Ontario’s culture. These investments will create jobs, boost our economy, and celebrate what makes Ontario truly unique.”

Southern Ontario is renowned for its thriving tourism sector, home to major events like the Toronto International Film Festival, Winterlude in Ottawa, and Caribana in Toronto. Festivals like the Carrousel of the Nations not only provide unforgettable experiences but also play a critical role in driving economic growth and strengthening community bonds.
As the Carrousel of the Nations prepares for its golden anniversary, excitement builds for a celebration that will highlight the richness of Ontario’s diverse cultures while supporting the local economy. Through these investments, the government continues to enhance tourism in Ontario, ensuring a vibrant future for the sector.
