A Vision for Brampton’s Future
Brampton’s continued investment in public transit is critical for shaping a competitive, livable, and sustainable city. The Canada Public Transit Fund (CPTF) will enhance transit connectivity, increase housing affordability, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with national climate action goals.
“As a Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Board Member and Chair of the Finance, Infrastructure and Transportation Committee, we have advocated for solutions like this to ensure cities can build transit systems for future generations. Public transit is the backbone of thriving cities, and this investment will be transformational for Brampton.” said – Rowena Santos, Regional Councillor, FCM Board Member
Brampton is set to benefit from a historic $106 million commitment from the Federal Government through the Canada Public Transit Fund (CPTF), ensuring sustained investments in the city’s transit infrastructure.
The announcement was made today by The Honourable Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, Minister of Housing, Infrastructure and Communities, alongside Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. The funding, allocated through CPTF’s Baseline Funding stream, will provide $106,239,450 over ten years (2026-2036) to upgrade, replace, and modernize Brampton Transit infrastructure while maintaining a state of good repair.
