India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, Rishabh Pant, is poised to make a comeback to competitive cricket in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, following a challenging recovery from injuries sustained in a car accident.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed Pant’s fitness for the T20 tournament after a rigorous 14-month rehabilitation process. In a statement released on X, the BCCI announced that Pant has been officially declared fit to resume his role as a wicketkeeper-batter for the Delhi Capitals franchise.
Expected to don the gloves and wield the bat once again, Pant will kick off his IPL campaign when Delhi Capitals face off against Punjab Kings on March 22.
Pant’s journey back to the cricket field has been marked by perseverance and determination since the harrowing car crash near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, on December 30, 2022. Despite sustaining injuries to his head, back, and leg, Pant managed to extricate himself from the vehicle before it engulfed in flames.
The 26-year-old’s last cricket appearance dates back to India’s Test match against Bangladesh from December 22 to 25, 2022.
As Pant prepares to make his IPL return, fans eagerly anticipate witnessing his electrifying performances on the field once again.
