SAULT STE. MARIE — One of Ontario’s most scenic fall experiences is back for the 2026 season, with the Agawa Canyon Tour Train taking passengers on a 10-hour journey through northern Ontario’s forests, cliffs and waterfalls.
Departing from downtown Sault Ste. Marie at 8 a.m., the train travels about 114 miles through the Canadian Shield before descending into Agawa Canyon Park. Along the way, passengers can enjoy fall colours, rugged landscapes and scenery that helped inspire the Group of Seven.
The trip includes a 90-minute stop at Agawa Canyon Park, where visitors can explore trails, see Bridal Veil Falls and Black Beaver Falls, or climb roughly 300 steps to the Lookout Trail for panoramic views.
On-board features include GPS-triggered historical commentary, snacks and beverages for purchase, restrooms and large screens showing an engineer’s-eye view from locomotive-mounted cameras. There is currently no Wi-Fi.
Tickets before Sept. 14 are priced at $154 for adults, $125 for older adults and $78 for youth. From Sept. 15 to Oct. 18, peak-season tickets are $170 for all ages. A premium Stone Gardner Car experience is available for $500 per person.
The 2026 season runs until Oct. 18, making the coming weeks one of the best times to experience Ontario’s fall colours by rail.
