Relief on the Way: Here’s When Canadians Will Get Their Benefit Cheques in November and December

As colder weather and rising holiday costs set in, millions of Canadians can look forward to a wave of federal and provincial benefit payments arriving through November and December, offering much-needed financial relief for seniors, families, and veterans.

The federal government will issue Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) payments on November 26 and December 22. The OAS pension, which adjusts quarterly to match inflation, offers up to $707.67 monthly for those aged 65–74 and $880.44 for seniors 75 and older with modest incomes. Meanwhile, the CPP provides up to $1,433 per month for eligible retirees.

Families will receive their Canada Child Benefit (CCB) on November 20 and December 12. This tax-free payment supports parents with children under 18, and may include the child disability benefit. In Ontario, families may also qualify for the Ontario Child Benefit, offering up to $1,607 per child annually, depending on income and family size.

For those struggling with energy and property costs, the Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) — which bundles the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit — will be paid on November 10 and December 10.

Veterans and members of the Canadian Armed Forces or RCMP receiving disability pensions can expect their next payments on November 28 and December 23. These tax-free monthly benefits support those with service-related injuries or illnesses, with options for lifetime or lump-sum compensation.

New this year, part-time students aged 18 to 24 who have lost a parent or whose parent is disabled and contributed to the CPP will receive $150.89 per month starting in 2025. Full-time students will continue receiving $301.77 monthly under the expanded program.

Low-income seniors and residents with disabilities may also apply for a property tax rebate if they’ve owned and lived in their home for at least a year and receive either GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement) or ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program) benefits. Applications must be submitted by December 31, and eligible homeowners will also automatically receive a Stormwater Charge Subsidy — a credit on Peel Region water bills or a mailed cheque for condo residents.

With key payment dates now confirmed, Canadians are encouraged to review eligibility requirements and ensure direct deposit information is up to date — a small but timely cushion as winter and holiday spending approach.
