“Protest Stickers Target Foreign Affairs Minister’s Oakville Office Over Canada-Israel Arms Allegations”

On Canada Day, protestors plastered anti-Israel stickers across the windows of Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand’s Oakville office, accusing the Canadian government of continuing to supply weapons to Israel despite public statements to the contrary.

The incident occurred at the downtown Oakville constituency office of the Oakville East MP and was reported to Halton Police on July 2. Authorities believe the act of vandalism took place late on the evening of July 1.

Bold red-and-white stickers — echoing the Canadian flag’s colours — bore messages such as “ARMS EMBARGO NOW” and “CANADA IS STILL ARMING ISRAEL.” One sticker specifically addressed Anand, stating, “MP ANAND CAN STOP THE FLOW OF WEAPONS TODAY.”

The stickers were affixed to two large front windows of the building, but no group has yet claimed responsibility, and Minister Anand’s office has not released a public statement regarding the incident.

Anand, as Minister of Foreign Affairs, is a key figure in shaping Canada’s role in global diplomacy, including its policies related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas and rising tensions between Israel and Iran. Although Canada has officially announced a halt to direct arms sales to Israel, pro-Palestinian advocates argue that Canadian companies continue to indirectly supply weapons via U.S. channels.

Canada’s official position maintains support for Israel’s right to self-defense while also recognizing the rights of Palestinians to self-determination and the eventual establishment of a sovereign, democratic Palestinian state.

Halton Police continue to investigate the act of vandalism.
