Prime Minister Mark Carney Unveils Diverse, Results-Focused Cabinet Committed to Urgent Action

Prime Minister Mark Carney has officially announced his new federal cabinet, introducing a streamlined team of 28 ministers and 10 secretaries of state. This refreshed ministry reflects Carney’s commitment to deliver swift, focused results and address the critical issues facing Canadians today.

Among the most notable appointments is Mississauga–Streetsville MP Rechie Valdez, who assumes dual responsibilities as Minister of Women and Gender Equality and Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism. Valdez’s expanded mandate signals the government’s emphasis on inclusive economic growth and gender equity, while also empowering small businesses and entrepreneurs to drive recovery and innovation.

“This new ministry is built to deliver the change Canadians want and deserve,” said Prime Minister Carney following the swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall. “Each member of this cabinet is expected and empowered to lead — to bring bold ideas, a clear focus, and decisive action to their work.”

With a strong mix of experience and fresh leadership, the Carney cabinet draws on voices from across Canada — including historically underrepresented communities — ensuring that policy decisions reflect the country’s diversity and regional realities.

The Carney administration has promised immediate action on key priorities, including strengthening Canada-U.S. trade, unlocking interprovincial commerce, accelerating housing construction, supporting families, and investing in sustainable infrastructure and energy.
