Peel Police Update Federal Leaders on Brampton and Mississauga Safety Initiatives

Federal Members of Parliament from Brampton joined Minister of Diversity, Inclusion, and Persons with Disabilities Kamal Khera, Minister of Justice and Attorney General Arif Virani, Shafqat Ali MP Brampton West, Maninder Sidhu MP Brampotn East, Ruby Sahota Member Parliament , Sonia Sidhu MP and Peel Regional Police leadership on November 13, 2024, to address growing public safety concerns in Brampton and Mississauga. The meeting focused on tackling recent incidents of violence and hate, emphasizing collaboration to enhance community safety and foster inclusivity.

The meeting underscored a unified effort to address pressing safety issues and ensure well-being across the Peel Region. Participants discussed updates on recent arrests, ongoing investigations, and strategies to prevent future incidents. Collaborative initiatives aimed at engaging the community and promoting harmony were central to the conversation.

Minister Kamal Khera stressed the importance of collaborative solutions:
“Ensuring the safety and harmony of our community is paramount. Our discussions with Peel Regional Police and Minister Virani were constructive, focusing on actionable steps to address recent incidents and prevent future occurrences. I am committed to working collaboratively to build a more secure and inclusive Peel Region.”

Shafqat Ali, MP for Brampton Centre, emphasized regional collaboration:
“Today, I had the opportunity to meet with Peel Regional Police and Minister Virani to discuss essential issues impacting our community’s safety and well-being. Together, we are working to build a more secure, resilient, and connected Peel Region.”

Maninder Sidhu, MP for Brampton East, acknowledged the work of law enforcement:
“Peel Region MPs sat down with the leadership team at Peel Regional Police to discuss the concerns of our constituents and receive updates on recent events in Brampton and Mississauga. Multiple arrests have been made, and investigations continue to actively pursue those who resorted to violence and hate.”

Ruby Sahota, MP for Brampton North, reaffirmed her support for ongoing investigations:
“Yesterday, I joined my fellow Brampton MPs in a meeting with Peel Regional Police to get an update on recent incidents in Brampton. The ongoing investigation is focused on bringing those accountable to justice. Our thanks go out to Chief Nishan and his team for their relentless work.”

Sonia Sidhu, MP for Brampton South, reflected on the productive discussion:
