Pakistan Security Sources Claim Alleged Indian “False Flag” Plot; No Independent Confirmation

ISLAMABAD Security sources in Pakistan have alleged that intelligence agencies uncovered a purported plan by India to stage a “false flag” operation along the disputed border region, though the claims have not been independently verified.

According to these sources, the alleged plan involved using Pakistani prisoners to create an incident in the contested region of Jammu and Kashmir, with the intention of attributing the event to Pakistan and escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

The claims suggest that intelligence agencies intercepted communications indicating a strategy to move prisoners toward sensitive border areas, potentially to fabricate an incident that could justify military or diplomatic escalation. Officials further alleged that such an operation could be aimed at drawing Pakistan into heightened engagement along its eastern border.

No official response has been issued by the Government of India regarding these allegations, and no independent international body has confirmed the claims.

The latest assertions come against the backdrop of already strained relations between India and Pakistan, which have experienced repeated tensions over Kashmir. The two countries were involved in a brief but intense conflict in May last year following an attack in the region that New Delhi attributed to Pakistan—an accusation Islamabad denied while calling for an impartial investigation.

That escalation led to cross-border strikes and military exchanges before a ceasefire was eventually brokered with international involvement.

Analysts caution that unverified claims of this nature can further inflame already sensitive geopolitical tensions and underscore the importance of independent verification and diplomatic engagement.

As the situation develops, observers stress the need for restraint and dialogue to prevent further escalation in a region that has long been a flashpoint for conflict.
