Ford’s PCs Lead in Nearly All Regions, While Liberals Secure Second Place
With less than three weeks until Ontario’s election, Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives (PCs) hold a comfortable lead over Bonnie Crombie’s Ontario Liberals, according to a new Nanos Research survey commissioned by CTV News.
- PCs: 45.9% support among decided voters
- Liberals: 30.1%
- NDP: 15.7%
- Green Party: 6.5%
According to Nik Nanos, Ford starts the campaign stronger than in 2022, with voters supporting his call for a stronger mandate to deal with U.S. President Donald Trump.
- In Toronto, the PCs and Liberals are neck-and-neck at 36% each.
- The NDP sits at 21.8%, making it a three-way contest in some ridings.
- Across the broader GTA, Ford’s lead is stronger with 48.9% support, compared to 34.7% for the Liberals.
When asked about preferred premier, Doug Ford leads with 39% support, followed by:
- Bonnie Crombie (Liberals): 25.5%
- Marit Stiles (NDP): 16.4%
- Male voters strongly favor Ford (53.7% PCs vs. 24.2% Liberals).
- Women are more divided, with 38.6% backing PCs and 35.9% supporting Liberals.
- The PC Party’s strongest support comes from voters aged 35-54, while Liberals do best among those 55 and older.
With Toronto as the key battleground, the coming weeks will be crucial for Crombie’s Liberals as they try to close the gap. Meanwhile, the NDP struggles to gain traction, with numbers significantly lower than past elections.
