The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has suspended the liquor licence of Longtooth Beverage Company in Stirling after its owner was charged in a drug trafficking investigation.
Ontario Provincial Police executed search warrants on July 30 at several properties in Quinte West and Stirling, including the brewery itself and multiple vehicles. Officers reported seizing cocaine along with suspected LSD and psilocybin. Three people were arrested, including the brewery’s owner, who now faces charges linked to trafficking controlled substances.
AGCO CEO Karin Schnarr said the decision was necessary to protect public safety, stressing that drug trafficking poses a direct threat to communities and that the regulator will continue working with law enforcement to combat criminal activity.
The suspension took effect on August 14 under the Liquor Licence and Control Act, which gives the AGCO authority to immediately suspend or revoke licences in the public interest.
Located at 429 West Front Street, the brewery now faces an uncertain future as legal proceedings unfold, with the suspension directly tied to the owner’s alleged role in the trafficking operation.
