Deborah Gosse, a retiree and long-time lottery player, often purchases Lottario, Lotto 6/49, and Lotto Max tickets using the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) Quick Pick feature. But it was her decision to add an Encore ticket to a recent draw that led to the unexpected jackpot.
“When I saw what I’d won, all I could say was, ‘OMG,’” Gosse recalled. “I called my husband over and asked him to take a look. There were so many zeros!” The couple was thrilled to discover their $1 investment had paid off in a big way.
Gosse’s husband was even more excited than she was, she said, describing him as being in shock while she felt overwhelming happiness. “It feels very nice to have finally won a big prize,” she added.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Headon Road in Burlington. While the couple is still deciding how to use their winnings, Gosse said they plan to take their time before making any major purchases.
