Noah and Olivia Remain Canada’s Top Baby NamesBy Charlie Buckley

OTTAWA — Olivia and Noah continue their reign as the most popular baby names in Canada, according to new Statistics Canada data.

For the ninth consecutive year, Olivia led the girls’ list, chosen 1,639 times in 2024. It has been among the top 10 since 2000.

On the boys’ side, Noah topped the rankings for the fourth year in a row, with 2,115 newborn boys receiving the name last year. Noah has held a top-10 spot since 2005.

Since 2020, more than 20,000 Canadian babies have been named either Noah or Olivia.

Other perennials in the boys’ top 10 include William, Liam, Theodore, Oliver and Lucas. Among girls, Emma, Amelia, Charlotte and Sophia (or Sofia) continue to dominate.

The rankings have shifted only slightly from 2023. On the boys’ list, James replaced Thomas, pushing Jack out of the top 10. For girls, Lily and Ava entered the top 10, replacing Mila and Alice.
