No Limits: Peel’s Massive Trash Pickup Weeks Return This June

Residents of Mississauga, Brampton, and Caledon will soon get a chance to declutter as Peel Region’s garbage exemption period returns this June. The two-week window, set for the weeks of June 9 and June 16, allows homeowners to place unlimited amounts of acceptable garbage at the curb for collection—without the need for garbage tags.

Collection will only happen on regular garbage days, not recycling days, so residents are urged to double-check their schedules using Peel Region’s online collection calendar. While this exemption period offers an opportunity to dispose of more waste than usual, it’s not a free pass to throw everything out. Items such as electronics and other non-eligible materials must be disposed of separately at Peel Community Recycling Centres. The Region encourages residents to use the Waste Sorter tool to check whether specific items can go to the curb.

Extra garbage should be placed beside your regular cart, with at least one metre of space between them. Smaller items should be bagged, and larger items should be placed separately at the curb. Each garbage bag must weigh less than 20 kilograms and fit within the size limits of 66 cm wide by 90 cm high. Bags must also be no smaller than 30 cm in both width and height.

Residents are reminded that garbage collection may occur at different times throughout the day, so it’s important to leave items out until 8 p.m. If your garbage is not picked up by then, it should be reported to the Region.
