BRAMPTON, ON (August 7, 2025) — Buffalo Sabres defenceman Owen Power is the latest NHL standout to join the growing roster for Mayor Patrick Brown’s Hockey Night in Brampton 2025, a charity hockey game supporting the campaign to build Brampton’s second hospital.
Power, a Mississauga native and the first overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, has rapidly become one of the league’s most promising young defencemen. In the 2023–24 NHL season, the 6’6″ blueliner recorded 33 points in 79 games with the Buffalo Sabres. Internationally, he’s represented Team Canada with distinction, playing a key role in winning gold at the 2021 IIHF World Championship and suiting up for Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
His return to Brampton’s marquee hockey event adds to an already star-studded lineup, which includes Stanley Cup champion Ryan Getzlaf, Hockey Hall of Famer Curtis Joseph, NHL veterans Mark Giordano, Taylor Raddysh, Darren Raddysh, Travis Barron, and Phil Oreskovic, as well as Olympic gold medallists Blayre Turnbull and Renata Fast. Fan favourites Jeremy Roenick, Cody Hodgson, Terry Ryan, Owen Nolan, and Ron MacLean will also take part, with Rod Black and Amrit Gill serving as hosts.
Now in its second year, Hockey Night in Brampton made history in 2024 by raising $14 million for the William Osler Health System Foundation, making it the largest charity hockey game in Canadian history.
This year’s event will take place on:
- 📅 Wednesday, August 20
- 📍 CAA Centre, 7575 Kennedy Rd. S., Brampton
- 🚪 Doors Open: 6:00 PM
