A new mobile service option is making waves across Canada as Cogeco rapidly expands its cellphone offering to hundreds of additional municipalities in Ontario and Québec, following a successful soft launch earlier this year.
Cogeco announced Wednesday that its mobile service is now available to the majority of its customers in communities including Niagara, Drummondville, Hamilton, Kingston, Shawinigan, Windsor, and Burlington — part of an expansion that adds coverage in more than 350 new municipalities.
“The first phase of our deployment exceeded our expectations and confirmed what we were hearing before: our customers also want to buy wireless from us,” said Frédéric Perron, Cogeco’s president and CEO. “We are proud to extend our service to hundreds of new communities.”
The company launched Cogeco Mobile in July in 13 initial markets and says the strong response has encouraged a faster, broader rollout. The service is available to both new and existing Cogeco internet subscribers, with full deployment expected to wrap up in the coming months.
The expansion marks Cogeco’s push to become a competitive player in Canada’s wireless market, offering customers bundled internet and mobile options in regions traditionally served by the country’s major carriers. More details on available plans can be found on Cogeco’s website.
