Navigating Pride: Full Details on Toronto Road Closures and Transit Diversions

TORONTO, ON – Pride Toronto is set to light up the city this weekend with a series of events culminating in the highly anticipated Pride Parade on Sunday, June 29. Motorists and transit users should anticipate significant road closures and TTC route diversions from Friday, June 27, to Monday, June 30.

The Toronto Police Service has released a comprehensive list of affected streets and timings to help the public navigate the festivities. Drivers are advised to expect traffic delays in and around the event areas.

Pride Street Fair (Friday, June 27, 9 a.m. – Monday, June 30, 6 a.m.)

The heart of the Pride festivities, the Street Fair in the Church and Wellesley Village, will result in the following long-term closures:

  • Church Street: Fully closed to all vehicular traffic from the north side of Dundas Street East to the south side of Hayden Street.
  • Wellesley Street East: Closed from Yonge Street to Jarvis Street.

Additionally, on Thursday, June 26, from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m., Church Street was fully closed from the north side of Wellesley Street to the north side of Alexander Street, and Maitland Street was closed from Maitland Terrace to Alexander Place for initial setup.

Pride Trans March (Friday, June 27)

The Trans March begins with a rally at 7 p.m. at the north end of the Pride Street Fair (Hayden and Church streets), with the march stepping off at 8 p.m. Road closures will be in effect along the march route:

  • Hayden Street: From Yonge Street to Church Street
  • Yonge Street: From Bloor Street East to Gould Street
  • Gould Street: From Yonge Street to Church Street
  • Church Street: From Gould Street to Hayden Street

Pride Dyke March (Saturday, June 28)

The Dyke March rally starts at 1 p.m. at the north end of the Pride Street Fair (Hayden and Church streets), with the march commencing at 2 p.m. The following roads will be fully closed from 1 p.m. until approximately 6 p.m.:

  • Hayden Street: From Yonge Street to Church Street
  • Yonge Street: From Bloor Street East to Gould Street
  • Gould Street: From Yonge Street to Church Street
  • Church Street: From Gould Street to Hayden Street

Pride Parade (Sunday, June 29)

The main Pride Parade will begin forming along Rosedale Valley Road at approximately 8 a.m. Road closures will be implemented in phases:

  • 8 a.m. closures:
    • Rosedale Valley Road from Park Road to Bayview Avenue
  • 11 a.m. closures:
    • Church Street from Yonge Street to Bloor Street East
    • Park Road from Rosedale Valley Road to Bloor Street East
    • Asquith Avenue from Yonge Street to Park Road
    • Collier Street from Yonge Street to Church Street
  • 12 p.m. closures:
    • Bloor Street West from Bay Street to Ted Rogers Way
    • Yonge Street from Church Street to Queen Street East
    • Dundas Street West from University Avenue to Victoria Street
    • Bay Street from Queen Street to Dundas Street

All roads related to the parade are expected to reopen by approximately 8 p.m.

TTC Route Changes (506 Carlton Streetcar)

The 506 Carlton streetcar will have temporary diversions throughout the weekend:

  • Friday, June 27 (8 p.m.) to Saturday, June 28 (5:30 p.m.): Streetcars will divert both ways on Bay, Dundas, and Parliament streets. Replacement buses will operate between Jarvis Street and Broadview Avenue, along Carlton, Parliament, Gerrard, River, Dundas, Broadview, and Gerrard streets.
  • Sunday, June 29 (10:45 a.m. to 7 p.m.): The 506 Carlton streetcar will operate in two sections, west and east of Yonge Street.
    • West of Yonge: Streetcars will divert both ways on Ossington Avenue, Dundas, and Bathurst streets to Bathurst Station. Replacement buses will run on College Street between Dovercourt Road and Bay Street.
    • East of Yonge: Streetcars will divert from Gerrard Street (westbound) onto Broadview Avenue (southbound), then Dundas Street (westbound), Parliament Street (northbound), and back to Gerrard Street (eastbound) to regular route. Replacement buses will operate between Broadview Avenue and Church Street on Gerrard, Parliament, and Carlton streets.
