Mumbai Police Tighten Security for Kapil Sharma After Second Shooting at Canadian Café

Mumbai police have stepped up security for comedian and actor Kapil Sharma following a second shooting at his newly opened restaurant in Canada. A senior police official confirmed on Monday that adequate measures are in place to ensure Sharma’s safety, though details of the arrangements remain confidential.

“We are taking all precautions so that no untoward incident takes place in the city,” the official said, declining to comment on whether Sharma’s family is also under protection.

The heightened security comes after gunfire erupted on August 8 at Kap’s Café in Surrey, British Columbia — less than a month after a similar attack on July 10. The restaurant, which opened on July 4, has now been targeted twice in under five weeks.

Police have also taken note of an audio clip circulating on social media in which a man claiming to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang says his group was behind the attack. Officials caution that over half of such online posts are still being verified for authenticity, noting that some may be AI-generated or intended purely to draw media attention.

Sharma, one of India’s most popular entertainers, has not commented publicly on the incidents, but security around him in Mumbai remains visibly tighter as investigations continue on both sides of the globe.
