Mississauga’s Illumi Festival of Lights Returns for a Festive Holiday Season

Mississauga is set to glow once again as the much-anticipated Illumi–A Dazzling World of Lights festival returns for the holiday season. Kicking off next Friday, this third annual event promises to deliver a magical experience with larger-than-life holiday displays, Christmas scenes, and iconic characters like Santa Claus.

Illumi, known as the world’s largest outdoor light, sound, and multimedia show, transforms a 600,000-square-foot site at Hurontario Street and Highway 407 into a winter wonderland. The massive attraction features more than 20 million LED lights, including the show’s centerpiece: the 47-meter-tall Tree of Lights. Standing twice as high as New York’s Rockefeller Center tree, this dazzling spectacle is created from 44,000 luminous spheres that light up the night sky.

Organizers describe the event as a “jaw-dropping experience” with 16 themed universes showcasing everything from giant snowmen and sparkling snowflakes to dynamic candy cane tunnels and two brand-new realms. Festival-goers can also take photos with Santa until Christmas Eve, making for a memorable holiday keepsake.

Popular “Doggie Nights,” where visitors can bring their pets, are scheduled for November 17 and December 5, offering a festive outing for the whole family.

Illumi initially launched in Mississauga in September 2022 and has quickly become a seasonal staple despite a brief pause over the summer. After its Halloween-themed displays last month, the holiday edition will run until January 5, ensuring families and visitors can enjoy the spectacle throughout the festive season.
