Mississauga Woman Among Five Charged in $100K Online Scam

MISSISSAUGA — A 27-year-old Mississauga woman has been charged in connection with an elaborate online scam that defrauded a southern Ontario resident of more than $100,000, Ontario Provincial Police say.

The investigation began last October after a resident of Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory reported being defrauded in a major online scheme. Three suspects from Winnipeg, Guelph, and Ottawa were already facing charges. On Tuesday, police announced the arrests of two additional suspects.

Diana Adde, 27, of Mississauga, and Kenneth Danumon, 23, of Guelph, are now charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000 (two counts)
  • Theft over $5,000
  • Laundering proceeds of crime
  • Participation in a criminal organization
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

Both accused were held in custody and appeared in Belleville court on Aug. 22.

The OPP continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to call 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477 or www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca), where tipsters may qualify for a reward of up to $2,000.
