Mississauga to Roll Out High-Tech Parking Meters Across the City in March

The City of Mississauga is modernizing its on-street paid parking system with the introduction of new high-tech parking meters set to be installed across several key areas starting in March 2025.

The upgraded meters will appear in Mississauga’s downtown core, Streetsville, Cooksville, Clarkson, and Port Credit, bringing the city’s parking infrastructure in line with industry standards and enhancing user convenience.

“The new machines are more user-friendly and require a vehicle license plate to be entered to process the transaction,” city officials said in a statement.

The updated meters will offer multiple payment options, allowing drivers to pay for roadside parking using:

  • Coins (quarters, loonies, and toonies)
  • Debit cards
  • Major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express)
  • Contactless payment options (Apple Pay, Google Pay)

Drivers will follow these simple steps to complete a parking transaction:

  1. Touch the screen to begin.
  2. Select payment preference (credit/debit card, contactless, or coin).
  3. Enter vehicle license plate number and duration of stay.
  4. Print receipt and place it on the vehicle dashboard.

If a parking meter is not functioning properly, users are encouraged to call 311 (or 905-615-4311 if outside city limits) to report the issue.

With this upgrade, Mississauga aims to streamline parking payments, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors.
