Mississauga to Host Over-60s Cricket World Cup 2026, Showcasing Global Talent

MISSISSAUGA — The City of Mississauga is set to take centre stage this summer as it hosts matches for the prestigious Over-60s Cricket World Cup 2026, bringing together experienced players from around the globe.

The international tournament will run from August 9 to 23, 2026, featuring teams from 13 countries. Matches will be held across Mississauga, along with additional games in Toronto and Vaughan, highlighting the region’s growing reputation as a hub for cricket in Canada.

Organized by the Council of Canada Masters Cricket, the tournament will be played on four designated pitches in Mississauga over eight scheduled dates. The selected venues include Courtneypark Athletic Fields, Iceland Arena, Max Ward Memorial Park and Paul Coffey Park.

City officials confirmed that while Mississauga is not financially supporting the event, it is contributing by making its cricket facilities available. Staff noted that allocating four pitches over eight dates represents the maximum capacity the city can offer without disrupting regular community use.

The event will celebrate the skill, passion and sportsmanship of senior cricket players, reinforcing the message that age is no barrier to competitive sport at an international level.

Mississauga has seen a significant rise in cricket’s popularity in recent years, driven by its diverse population and strong community clubs such as the Mississauga Panthers Cricket Club. In response to growing demand, the city has continued to invest in cricket infrastructure, including the development of additional pitches.

City officials say cricket’s global appeal makes it a natural fit for Mississauga’s multicultural community and aligns with efforts to promote inclusive recreational opportunities.

The Over-60s Cricket World Cup is expected to draw attention from cricket enthusiasts across Canada and beyond, further strengthening Mississauga’s position on the international sporting map while bringing vibrant community engagement to local parks and facilities.
