Mississauga Secures Spot Among Canada’s Top 20 Best Cities for Business and Investment

Mississauga has once again proven itself a powerhouse for business growth, earning a place on Site Selection Magazine’s prestigious list of Canada’s top 20 economic development regions for the ninth year in a row.

The city’s economic development division, Invest Mississauga, was recognized for its strong corporate investment track record, capital spending, and job creation efforts. In 2025 alone, Mississauga saw over 59 major projects, $1.7 billion in investment, and nearly 3,600 new jobs — reinforcing its status as one of Canada’s leading destinations for business expansion.

Mayor Carolyn Parrish celebrated the ranking, noting Mississauga’s position as Ontario’s second-strongest economy. “With more than 100,000 companies, Mississauga is a top destination for businesses, jobs, and investment,” she said, adding that the recognition reflects the city’s commitment to building a thriving economic future.

Recent high-profile investments have further cemented Mississauga’s position as a hub for innovation and industry. AstraZeneca’s $820 million expansion is set to create 700 high-skilled jobs, while projects from HD Hyundai Construction Equipment North America, Roche Canada, Sun Pharma, and Electrovaya are fueling growth across sectors from biotech to clean energy.

Mississauga’s forward-looking infrastructure projects are also turning heads, including a first-of-its-kind district energy system at Lakeview Village and a pilot program to introduce hydrogen fuel cell electric buses. The city’s AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor’s for 21 consecutive years underscores its fiscal strength and smart planning.

With major companies like e-Zinc, Synechron, and Kyowa Kirwin choosing Mississauga for new facilities and expansions, the city is positioning itself as a magnet for investment and a leader in sustainable economic growth — standing shoulder to shoulder with Toronto, Hamilton, Oakville, and Brampton on the national stage.
