Mississauga Restaurant and Grocery Store Flagged for Food Safety Violations by Peel Inspectors

Peel Public Health has issued conditional passes to a Mississauga restaurant and a grocery store following inspections that uncovered multiple food safety violations.

Restaurant: Ande Ka Funda

The restaurant, located at 5019 Spectrum Way, Unit A3, was inspected on Sept. 15 and found to be not in compliance in several key areas, including:

  • Preventing food contamination and adulteration (Significant Risk)
  • Maintaining food contact surfaces properly
  • Providing sanitizer test reagents
  • Having a properly constructed or NSF-approved commercial dishwasher
  • Keeping non-food contact surfaces clean and in good condition
  • Maintaining adequate mechanical ventilation
  • Practicing good housekeeping

Grocery Store: Smiley Food and Store

The supermarket at 2364 Haines Rd., Unit 15, was inspected on Sept. 10 and cited for:

  • Lack of accessible handwashing stations
  • Missing required supplies at handwashing stations
  • Not providing proper dishwashing facilities with drainage racks

Following a reinspection on Sept. 15, the grocery store received a full pass.

Understanding Conditional Passes

Peel Public Health explains that a yellow conditional pass means a food establishment is not meeting all requirements under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, and that any issues posing a risk of illness must be corrected immediately.

A green pass means the establishment is fully compliant, while a red closed sign indicates a health hazard that forces a shutdown until the problem is resolved.
