Mississauga Launches Major U.S. TV Campaign to Attract American Tourists

Mississauga has stepped into the spotlight with a 30-second TV commercial airing on major U.S. networks like CNN and AMC, aiming to position Canada’s seventh-largest city as a top destination for American tourists.

The ad, part of a broader initiative by Visit Mississauga, the city’s destination marketing organization, showcases colorful visuals of Mississauga’s landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods. The commercial invites American viewers to discover a destination that appeals to a variety of interests, from foodies to nature lovers, and those seeking culture and connections.

“Mississauga is a place that will make you feel at home,” the ad states, concluding with an invitation to visit friends and family in the city.

The campaign was executed in partnership with third-party vendors who coordinated ad placements on the major networks. This approach ensures maximum exposure to the intended audience in the United States.

While not traditionally known as a tourist hotspot, Mississauga has worked to elevate its profile as a destination city. In 2022, it ranked 42nd on a global 100 Most Loved Travel Destinations list by a Vancouver-based firm, using the Tourism Sentiment Index. Among Canadian cities, Mississauga placed second, just behind Richmond, B.C.

The ad emphasizes Mississauga’s diverse offerings, including:

  • Unique neighborhoods and villages celebrating distinct styles.
  • Dining and cultural experiences.
  • Outdoor activities for nature enthusiasts.

The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to position Mississauga as both a leisure and business travel destination.

For American viewers, the city’s message is clear: Mississauga is more than just a gateway city—it’s a place to explore, connect, and feel at home.
