Several major vehicle theft cases in January drew significant attention, including:

  • $1.4 million worth of stolen trucks and vehicles were seized during a commercial raid north of Brampton.
  • A drive-by shooting in Brampton was linked to high-end vehicle thefts, leading to multiple arrests.

Authorities have urged residents to take precautionary measures to reduce their risk of becoming victims of auto theft. Key recommendations include:

  • Park inside a locked garage whenever possible, as most stolen vehicles are taken from driveways.
  • Use a steering wheel lock, which acts as a visible deterrent.

  • Set up a quality video surveillance system with proper night vision and positioning for easy monitoring.

With vehicle thefts on the rise, Peel police encourage residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
