Mental Health Seminar by Bonieglen Farm Park Senior Citizen Club, Caledon

Caledon – The Bonieglen Farm Park Senior Citizen Club successfully organized an enlightening Health Seminar on Mental Health at the Southfields Community Centre, Caledon. The seminar was attended by over 75 senior members of the community and focused on understanding the causes, challenges, and remedies of mental health and depression among seniors.

The event began with a warm welcome by Mr. Malook Singh Kahlon, General Secretary of the Club, who extended heartfelt greetings to members and guests.

“Our club is not just a gathering place—it is a family built on care, compassion, and mutual respect,” said Mr. Kahlon. “Through seminars like these, we strive to create awareness about mental wellness and support our seniors in leading healthy, happy, and peaceful lives.”

Mr. Sukhdev Singh Bedi, a well-known community leader and health expert, delivered the keynote talk. He highlighted the importance of recognizing early signs of stress, anxiety, and depression, and explained how staying active, engaging socially, and maintaining a positive mindset are essential for good mental health.

“Mental health is not a weakness; it’s a vital part of overall wellbeing,” said Mr. Bedi. “We can all help one another by staying connected, offering a listening ear, and promoting hope and positivity in our community.”

The session was interactive, with participants sharing their thoughts and learning practical steps to improve emotional balance, such as meditation, regular walks, and social involvement.

Mr. Gian Paul, Chairperson of the Flower City Friends Club (FCFC), who attended the seminar, praised the initiative and commended the organizers for addressing such a meaningful topic.

“The Bonieglen Farm Park Senior Citizen Club has set a wonderful example by organizing this session,” said Mr. Paul. “Mental health is just as important as physical health, especially for seniors. Open discussions like these bring comfort, courage, and unity.”

Mrs. Jaswinder Daind, community volunteer and member of the Flower City Friends Club, also appreciated the event’s impact.
