During the 2025 White House Easter Egg Roll, First Lady Melania Trump donned a cream-colored trench coat by Montreal-based luxury brand Mackage, priced at $1,890. This choice stood out amid ongoing U.S.-Canada trade tensions, as President Trump has imposed additional tariffs on Canadian goods. Some observers speculated that Melania’s attire might be a subtle nod to Canada or simply a fashion choice.
Melania paired the coat with grey patent leather pumps by Parisian brand Roger Vivier. Her husband, President Donald Trump, wore his customary red, white, and blue suit and tie.
Fashion experts noted that high-profile figures often rely on stylists for outfit selections, suggesting that the First Lady’s choice might not have been politically motivated. However, Mackage is favored by celebrities like Meghan Markle and Madonna, adding another layer to the discussion.
In previous years, Melania’s Easter outfits included designs from American and British brands, such as Hervé Pierre, Burberry, and Michael Kors. Her fashion choices have often garnered attention, including the controversial “I really don’t care, do u?” jacket worn during a 2018 visit to the U.S.-Mexico border.
The White House and Mackage did not immediately respond to requests for comment regarding the First Lady’s Easter ensemble.
