Mayor Chow Assures Safety for Taylor Swift’s Toronto Concerts Following Vienna Threat

Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow has expressed confidence in the city’s security preparations for Taylor Swift’s upcoming six-night sold-out concert series in November, following the cancellation of Swift’s shows in Vienna due to a foiled terrorist plot.

During a news conference on Thursday, Chow reassured fans that Toronto police and other security agencies are working diligently to ensure the safety of concertgoers. “I’m glad they were able to arrest the people. I do know that the Toronto police and others have been meeting regularly to make sure that everyone coming to the Taylor Swift concert will be safe and sound,” Chow stated.

This assurance comes after Austrian authorities arrested two suspects, aged 19 and 17, who were allegedly inspired by the Islamic State and al-Qaida. The suspects reportedly planned to attack Swift’s concert at the Ernst Happel Stadium, prompting the cancellation of all three shows scheduled for this week.

Toronto police have confirmed that they are not aware of any credible threats ahead of Swift’s November performances but emphasized their commitment to maintaining public safety.

Swift has not commented on the cancellations in Vienna, but Mayor Chow emphasized that Toronto is prepared to welcome the pop star and her fans, ensuring a safe and successful event.
