Major Police Takedown Nets 34 Arrests, Firearms and Large Drug Seizures in Durham-Led Investigation

Police in Durham Region say 34 people have been arrested and are facing a combined 139 criminal charges following a wide-ranging drug trafficking and illegal firearms investigation spanning Ontario and Manitoba.

According to Durham Regional Police, the investigation — known as Project Hydrogen — began in April and involved a coordinated effort with multiple law enforcement agencies, including Toronto Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, the RCMP and Winnipeg Police.

Over the course of several weeks, officers executed search warrants at 61 residences across southern Ontario and in Winnipeg. As a result of the searches, police seized 10 firearms, more than $200,000 in Canadian currency, approximately 18 kilograms of cocaine and two kilograms of fentanyl, along with other controlled substances.

Police said the 34 accused range in age from 18 to 53 and are facing a total of 139 charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offences.

Investigators are continuing to appeal to the public for information and are asking anyone with details related to the case to contact Durham Regional Police.
