Kapil Sharma is set to make a comeback on Netflix with “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” a sketch comedy series, as revealed in the first trailer released by the streaming giant. The trailer, dropped a week before the show’s debut, promises the familiar format of celebrity interviews and sketches, marking the highly anticipated reunion of Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover.
The show’s trailer features an array of celebrity guests, including Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer. Notably, these appearances aren’t tied to promotional activities for their projects, a departure from previous iterations of Kapil’s show on television.
A significant moment in the trailer sees Kapil and Sunil addressing their much-discussed fallout, injecting humor into the situation. This marks their first collaboration since their reported altercation in 2017, which led to their separation. Alongside Kapil and Sunil, familiar faces such as Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Archana Puran Singh make appearances, reprising their roles from the television version of the show.
“The Great Indian Kapil Show” will be available for streaming weekly on Netflix, with a new episode premiering every Saturday. Kapil Sharma has been a fixture in the comedy scene since the launch of “Comedy Nights with Kapil” in 2013 on Colors TV.
After his successful stand-up special, “I’m Not Done Yet,” on Netflix in 2022, speculation arose about Kapil’s transition to the streaming platform for his weekly show, a move officially confirmed in 2023.
Sunil Grover expressed his excitement about reuniting with Kapil, stating, “The Great Indian Kapil Show feels like a homecoming. We just picked up from where we left off. The trailer is just a small glimpse of the madness and fun we’ve had on the show. Our Indian fans are like family, and this time, we’ll reach a worldwide audience, thanks to Netflix.”
