Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will begin issuing invitations on July 28, 2025, to thousands of potential sponsors under this year’s Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP). A total of 17,860 invitations will be sent to individuals who submitted an interest-to-sponsor form in 2020, with the goal of approving up to 10,000 complete applications.
Invited applicants will be able to submit their sponsorship applications through the IRCC’s online Permanent Residence Portal or the Representative Permanent Residence Portal. IRCC urges all those who submitted interest forms in 2020 but haven’t yet received an invitation to check their email inboxes carefully—including spam and junk folders.
This year’s invitations will be drawn exclusively from the 2020 pool of applicants. No new interest-to-sponsor forms will be accepted for the 2025 intake.
For those who do not receive an invitation, IRCC encourages consideration of the super visa program. The super visa is a multi-entry visa valid for up to 10 years, allowing parents and grandparents to stay in Canada for up to five years at a time, with the option to extend their stay by an additional two years per visit.
